Compete Hockey Academy Commits to U19 Female Program
- Submitted by

Compete Hockey Academy is proud to announce they will be adding a U19 Female Academy team to their existing program for the 2015-16 season.  Compete Hockey Academy is a member of the prestigious Canadian Sports School Hockey League in which programs like Okanagan Hockey Academy, Pursuit of Excellence, Banff Hockey Academy, Edge School of Athletes and South Delta Hockey Academy host female hockey programs.

The team will be coached by Lindsay Macy. Lindsay has played her collegiate hockey for the University of Wisconsin and Minnesota Mankato. Lindsay than went on to play for the U22 USA Hockey Female National team. She finished her playing career playing professional female hockey for the Minnesota Whitecaps.  Lindsay then went on to work for the Owatonna High School Athletic Department in Owatonna, Minnesota she was also the coach of the female high school varsity team.

The opportunity to work with such great people and hockey minds is something that doesn’t come around very often, I am very excited to give back to a game that has given me so much by helping develop young female athletes not only on the ice but as young women. Compete Hockey Academy is growing to a top notch program and is going to give many girls the chance to play at a very high level of hockey and that is one of the most awesome experiences a kid can have “; Lindsay Macy Compete Hockey Academy U19 Female Head Coach.

CHA’s female program will be similar to their already existing U16 and U18 male academy teams.

Program Structure:

  • Athletes attend Genesis Preparatory Academy for their education
  • 4.5 – 6 hours of on ice training weekly
  • 3 to 4.5 hours of off-ice training weekly within CHA’s off ice training facility with CHA’s full time strength and conditioning coach
  • Housed with local host families through CHA’s Housing Coordinator
  • 45 – 50 AAA Caliber Female games within the Canadian Sports School Hockey League and various US based showcase tournaments
  • Permanent female locker room
  • 2.5 months of post season training on and off the ice

“Compete Hockey Academy is very excited to expand our student athlete base with the first female hockey academy program in the Western United States. A program like this will give female hockey players a great opportunity to improve their overall skill level, their overall character level and reach the goal of playing at the collegiate level" Compete Hockey Academy President and Founder Cam Severson

Compete Hockey Academy will be hosting a female and male showcase evaluation camp April 24th – 26th at Frontier Arena in beautiful Coeur d’Alene Idaho. The weekend will consist of games and on ice combine testing performed by Sports Testing.
